Mia had always loved live streaming. With thousands of followers on her channel, MiaLive, she was building a name for herself by streaming late-night chats and gaming marathons. Tonight was no different—she’d planned a special Halloween stream, where she’d play horror games and share spooky stories with her audience.
She set up her camera, adjusted her ring light, and hit “Go Live.” The chat quickly filled with her usual viewers, their usernames lighting up the screen with excited messages:
[ShadowHunter22]: "Let’s gooo!"
[LunaLove]: "I’ve been waiting all day for this!"
[GhostlyOne]: "Tell us something really scary, Mia."
Mia grinned. “Alright, guys, ready to get spooked? Let’s dive in!” She launched into a game and began narrating her playthrough, laughing and chatting with her audience.
About an hour in, something strange happened.
[UnknownUser]: "Look behind you."
Mia chuckled, assuming it was a troll. “Nice try. I’m not falling for that one.”
The chat didn’t let up.
[DarkWatcher]: "Seriously. There’s something behind you."
[GhostlyOne]: "Is that a shadow in the corner?"
Mia glanced over her shoulder. The room behind her was empty, just her bookshelf and the string lights she’d hung for ambiance. “You guys are trying to freak me out. It’s working a little,” she admitted, laughing nervously.
She went back to the game, but the chat grew more insistent.
[UnknownUser]: "It moved."
[ShadowHunter22]: "What is that?!"
A chill ran down Mia’s spine. She glanced at the small preview of her stream on her second monitor. At first, she didn’t notice anything unusual. Then she saw it.
In the corner of her room, just at the edge of the frame, was a dark figure. It was faint, almost blending with the shadows, but its outline was unmistakable—a tall, humanoid shape.
Mia froze. “Okay... Who’s messing with me?” she said, her voice shaking. “If this is a prank, it’s not funny.”
She stood up, her heart pounding, and walked to the corner. The chat erupted:
[LunaLove]: "DON’T GO!"
[DarkWatcher]: "It’s right there!!!"
But when Mia reached the spot, there was nothing. She spun around, showing the room to the camera. “See? Nothing. You guys are freaking me out for no reason.”
She sat back down, trying to laugh it off, but her unease grew. The figure had looked real.
Suddenly, her stream glitched. The screen flickered, and the chat froze for a moment before returning. But now, all the usernames were gone. Every message was from [UnknownUser], repeating the same thing over and over:
"LET ME IN."
Mia’s breathing quickened. “Okay, what’s going on? Is someone hacking me?” She checked her stream settings, but everything seemed normal.
The glitching grew worse. Her webcam feed froze, then resumed, but now the figure was back. This time, it stood directly behind her chair.
She didn’t notice it until the chat exploded:
[ShadowHunter22]: "BEHIND YOU!!!"
[LunaLove]: "RUN!"
[GhostlyOne]: "TURN AROUND!"
Mia turned slowly, her heart pounding in her ears. Nothing was there. But when she looked back at her screen, the figure was closer, leaning over her shoulder, its face obscured by static.
The lights in her room flickered, and the stream cut out entirely. The last thing her viewers saw was Mia’s terrified face as the figure’s hand reached for her.
Her stream never resumed.
The next morning, her channel was gone, wiped clean as if it had never existed. But some of her followers reported strange occurrences—hearing whispers during other streams, or seeing faint shadows moving in their own rooms.
And a new account began popping up in their chats: [UnknownUser].
